A future with words was always on the book for Elizabeth Ellen Carter who started writing her own stories when she ran out of Nancy Drew mysteries to read when she was 10.

Using her mother's Olivetti type writer with the italic keyboard, she spent endless school holidays making up her own stories and then using the Dewey Decimal System to arrange and categories her bookshelf.

Somewhere around the age of 13 she determined to become a journalist and at 17 was awarded a cadetship to the Gold Coast Bulletin.

She covered news, council, education, health but had the most fun as the paper's entertainment and features reporter covering film, TV and music.

Best of all she met her husband there and together they started a small award-winning media, marketing and advertising agency and now she works as marketing manager for an international organic skin care company.

In 2012, Elizabeth also returned to the keyboard to write stories (and laptops are so much better than manual typewriters).

The Scared Series started out as one book. One little love story, all on it's own. It started out as a first draft in the months after I had just discovered New Adult as genre, and had fallen in love with reading it. Having started a YA paranormal novel, I abandoned that and moved to the manuscript that would become Scared of Beautiful. I started it, got to 16000 words, and there she sat, on my PC for six months. Until a friend volunteered to read it, and like the awesome muse that she was, hounded the crap out of me till it was done! I like to write organically, so I really didn't have an outline. All I knew was that there must be love, there must be pain and there must be happily ever after. There must be a man that I conjured up in my dreams, and a woman who, like me, is a little awkward. And they must fall in love in a way that renders them incapable of breathing without the other. And when I had published Scared of Beautiful, one night while drinking one too many ciders, I thought, 'I could do a series of love stories, all unique, each one examining the life and loves of two different people. I could write happily ever afters forever!' And I was sold. And then I did a happy dance. And honestly, I don't know how I lived before I wrote. It's the most amazing job in the world. And that's the story of the conception of the Scared Series, a series written under duress with the help of one too many ciders ;)

At center stage stands the lead singer, his head down, gripping the microphone. He opens his mouth, and the voice that oozes out of it sends a shiver down my spine. The screeching I heard earlier today is nowhere to be found. His voice is raw, deep, and raspy, its richness soothing. My ears are in love with his voice. I’m captivated, as he begins to sing the first line of the song. My heart pounds in my chest, my breathing accelerates, and I am mesmerized.
