The Sordid Promise by Courtney Lane! Check it out!

Title: The Sordid Promise
Author: Courtney Lane
Genre: Erotic Suspense/Psychological Thriller
Publication Date: March 26, 2014

Warning: Contains graphic language, frequent graphic sex, disturbing violence, and very dark themes.

When physical pain allows you to escape your reality; what do you do when the pain is no longer strong enough to quiet the emotional ache?

Diouana "Nikki" returned to her hometown six months ago to tend to her sick mother. She thought she'd left her "baggage" behind her on the opposite coast, only to find that it never left her side. As her self-destructive thoughts begin to consume her, her mother -- realizing Nikki's torment -- pushes Nikki to complete her last wishes.

Eric Brenton, Nikki's new neighbor, lives in a dark, chaotic world that is easily hidden behind his model good looks and cocky demeanor. Unapologetic about his dirtier intentions, he sets his sights on Nikki with an offer to help her. But his help comes with very unorthodox conditions and a huge price.

And Eric...comes with an extensive black box warning label.

I’ve been creating my own little world since I was very young. When I was eight years old, I began to bring those worlds to life with pen and paper.

While I write across genres (I find it hard to stick to one genre), I do have an archetype when it comes to the female protagonist — they have to have certain type of strength, strong convictions, and layered personalities. There will often be a lot of darkness and depth to my stories, but I don’t see the point in writing vapid characters who are thrust into “safe” situations.

Writing Science Fiction/Fantasy is my first love. If there is one thing for sure, I'm a bit of a misfit when it comes to Romance. I prefer my romances dark. The elements that will be common in my stories are: depth, controversy, and misfit characters.

I was born in Williamsburg Virginia and raised in Yorktown Virginia so paranormal inspiration was easily obtained. I have 4 awesomesauce kids and an AMAZING husband. Currently I'm working on three books, all Paranormal Romance. I'm a google junkie and can find a pic on google to fit any conversation and will cyber stalk a topic till my eyes hurt if I am interested in it enough. Coffee and gummy bears are an hourly habit. Some of my favorites include: Reading (of course), writing (well duh), baking fancy shmancy cakes, painting and last but not least hanging out with the fam <3

1) I am obsessed with Favicons. They are the little icon next to a websites name in the tabs on a browser. I like to make them pretty when I can.

2) I have an irrational fear of all bugs, spiders especially but I loathe them all equally and turn into a crying ninja when I see them.

3) I make fancy shmancy cakes, but don’t really like to eat cake.

4) Stray cats are attracted to me like lent to static.

5) I am a pediatric nurse and I LOVE my job.

6) I have a fear of being murdered while in the shower, even when the door is locked I am afraid something will crawl out of the mirror or toilet so I keep my eyes open the whole time…even when washing my face (it is possible).

7) I listen to the same song on repeat the entire time I am writing a chapter.

8) I totaled my first car going 3 (yes three) miles an hour.

9) I love all things Wonderland (especially Johnny Depp)

10) I totally believe in aliens. In my head I picture them all as Luxen aka Daemon (The Lux Series by Jennifer L Armentrout)

11) When I see people’s pics on facebook or Instagram, I totally check out the background (their living room, car, kitchen etc.)

12) I could eat avocados, chicken and watermelon for the rest of my life and be completely content.

13) Short arm T-rex jokes get me every time haha!

14) I have to have at least eight pillows on my bed or I can’t sleep. I sleep with 6 of them and they have to be positioned just right or I will toss and turn like a two year old.

15) I had the brilliant idea of going by a pen name of Summer Rayne until I said it out loud and ugly laughed at how ridiculous it was.

16) I have the mouth of a seasoned sailor. Except around my grandma, mom and kids…well sometimes the kids push it but I don’t make it a habit lol

17) I can find a picture that will suit any conversation I am having within a matter of seconds.

18) I have an issue with whiteboards. I will redo them a million times till the words/lines are straight.

19) I’m an over-roller when it comes to toilet paper (I am running out of fun facts so it has come to the way I roll my toilet paper and for this I apologize)

20) Writing 20 “fun facts” about myself has proven to me I need to go sky dive or something more exciting than cake and toilet paper. Thanks for reading!

Spotlight: The Astral Ordinance by Meltem Y.K!

Title: The Astral Ordinance, Book 1
Author: Meltem Y.K
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Publication Date: December 22, 2012

Jayna is about to graduate from high school and embark on an exciting journey in higher education – or so she thinks. In the wee hours of one fateful night she finds herself in the middle of a battle with demons. She assumes it’s a nightmare; a young warrior, Ethan Wells, convinces her otherwise. Jayna discovers that she is an evolved human who can travel between dimensions and is also capable of extinguishing demons. She is a prime candidate for the Astral army. An innocent first-love blossoms between Jayna and Ethan. They become partners in the Astral army against demons and other forms of evil. Ethan is in charge of her training; they spend the next few years as carefree college students by day, demon fighters by night. However, there is a small glitch in their happiness: They are forbidden by the Astral Masters to see each other on Earth. As much as they love one another, they cannot be together in their physical forms. However, the Astral Plane is about to have a first.

Excerpt One

“You think this is a dream?” He laughed, a soft chuckle escaping his parched lips.

“Yep.” Her copper head bobbed up and down. “It sure is. Look I am even wearing my pajamas.”

The girl smiled and every sane thought fled Ethan’s head once again. He was falling under the spell of the most beautiful girl he had seen in his life. He better find something intelligent to say to her; put his poker face on; stop gawking at her.

“No, guess again,” he said, “and stop pinching yourself. You won’t wake up, because this is not a dream.”

“Then, what is this place? Where am I?”

Excerpt Two

Why don’t I meet a guy like this in real life?

Duhhh, because he isn’t real, she reminded herself. He is a figment of my imagination, so I made him as hot as I could imagine. Uhh, I sure wish he was real.

She had lagged just a bit behind Ethan where she had a close-up view of his sexy back, his wide shoulders and ripped muscles. Her heart gave a little lurch. She wondered what it would be like to be wrapped in those arms.

Ethan turned around and winked at her. Jayna went beet red.

I am sure I didn’t say those things out loud, she thought. There is no way he heard my thoughts… but why did he wink at me?

Excerpt Three

I am here to welcome you, Jayna. Be patient. Your questions will be answered in due time. You will be given protection and all the help you need.

The Astral visitor shimmered and disappeared.

Jayna’s hand shot to the chain around her neck; another Astral artifact as proof that she was not imagining things, she was sure of that. Jayna walked to her full-length mirror and admired the chain, an intricate piece made of spun gold.

Jayna had never seen such beautiful jewelry as worn by her visitor.

She went to her bathroom and splashed cold water on her face. She changed into a pretty sundress, put some make up on and brushed her hair. She took the photo that she was framing for her grandmother and headed out giving Mia a pat on the head. Mia smiled and wagged her tail in response.

A wave of love from Mia hit Jayna like a soft wind.

Interesting, she thought, I never felt that before.

Her Astral experiences were already changing her.

Excerpt Four

“Are you going to read my cup, Ayshen,” Grace asked “or did the coffee spirits quit for the day?”

Ayshen looked at Grace’s face and then back into her cup. “No, no quit.”

She shook her head gravely. “I see a rat and dark clouds. Trouble and damage. Be careful. No impulse. Think first, okay? Enemy is hiding, waiting, will make trouble. Bad person.”

Ayshen gave her head a shake and tried to snap out of the cup’s bad mood.

“Sorry. Stupid cup. Forget it. Only for fun.”

Excerpt Five

“Remember the little story I told you yesterday at school?”

Pavlina nodded.

“It was not a story I made up, Pav. It’s true, every word of it,” Jayna confessed.

“You can’t be serious.” Pavlina was dumbfounded.

“I am serious. I was out fighting demons last night and doing other stuff when Ethan asked if I knew that you were pregnant. He saw it in your aura. You have a pea sized light bulb in your tummy, that’s how he knew it. He showed it to me too,” Jayna explained.

“I am not going to pretend that I understand what you are talking about.”

Excerpt Six

To say that I am overwhelmed doesn’t even come close to how I feel. Why were we thrown together this way? I don’t know the answer to that, but I do know there is a reason for it. You told me to trust my intuition. I am doing that now. There is something that we have to accomplish, though I have no idea what it is, only that it’s very important and it scares me. I am not sure how I will measure up to what’s expected of me.

We returned to the hotel after midnight and I immediately drew him a hot bath, adding bubbles from the upscale toiletry collection, and he let out a long sigh as he sank slowly into it, gazing at me expectantly as I hovered over him.

“You come, cariño?” he asked, gesturing for me to join him, and my pussy immediately jumped to attention.

I sat on the toilet and hurriedly removed my sandals and ripped off the tank top, my pulse racing as it always did when his luscious eyes turned seductive and mischievous.

“You do naked dance, mi amor?” he asked.

“Striptease,” I corrected, laughing, and he flicked bubbles in my direction, grinning boyishly.

“You do striptease?”

The suggestion made me hotter and I slowed down. I slid the jeans leisurely over my behind, turned away from him and bent over, giving him a good, long look at my ass in the skimpy thong as I wriggled out of the pants.

“Fantástico,” he murmured, and I spun to face him, fluffing my hair so it fell wildly around my face.

Then I slid my index fingers inside the panties, tracing them along my hip and the apex of my sex, and I plunged a hand inside, touching myself and licking my lips, enticing him with my tongue, and his eyes practically bugged out of their sockets.

I smiled to myself. My first striptease and it turned me on as much as it did him, my slit dripping with juices and my clit plumping and pulsing, and if I’d wanted, I could’ve made myself come in an instant.

I moaned softly, deliberately, and moved my hands up to my breasts, skimming the lacy fabric. I unhooked the bra and held it close to my chest, my hips swaying suggestively, and then I flung it at him.

He snatched it out of the air, his coordination soccer perfect, as was he. Delicious, tantalizingly hot, the bubbles swirling around his rib cage as he smiled his uniquely crooked smile and gazed lovingly at me with his soft chocolate eyes.

He was enjoying himself and so was I, and it was impossible not to love him.

I shimmied my tits in his face, making a show of it, and his hands reached for them, but I backed away.

“Mi amor, come with me,” he appealed.

And I did, quickly peeling off the thong and sliding into the tub. I straddled him and he grasped the nape of my neck, gently drawing me in for a kiss, his tongue passionate, loving and intense, a slow sultry dance. I drowned in that kiss, swept under by a–

The lock clicked. Baba was back. I silently cursed him, wanting to remain in the past, wanting to stay with Mikel. I remained immobile and kept my eyes closed, and I felt him looming over me, sensed the stark light streaming from the ceiling and smelled cigarette smoke.
