This is an erotic short by Sherri Hayes about a Domme who owns a BDSM club. She's an older woman who lived a vanilla life until she unexpectedly lost her husband of 20 years.
I can't particularly say what the book is about other than that as it bounces around so much it was hard to follow. We meet so many couples and individuals I couldn't remember which character was which and what their stories were come to the next time we came around to one of the characters we'd already gotten a brief history on.
We follow the application of a new member, but we don't get to know much or why this one is so important. I'm sure he is going to be the one that makes Katrina, the main Domme, want to take a permanent sub, but he is only in the actual book for a very brief time.
I think there was a lot of promise there, but there was just too much going on that there was no time to actually connect or get to know any of the characters. I understand that it was to get us interested and want more, instead I was bored and ready for it to end because I got to know nothing about any one character that made me want to read more.
It's supposed to be erotic, but there is one brief scene that wasn't all that sexy in the book.
There is books to follow and I understand wanting to introduce characters that'll have their own books and further exploration later, but there was just too much in too short of time. I'd rather have gotten to know the main couple in this short and met only one or two other people for now.
Overall the writing wasn't bad, but I couldn't connect.

Sherri spent most of her childhood detesting English class. It was one of her least favorite subjects because she never seemed to fit into the standard mold. She wasn’t good at spelling, or following grammar rules, and outlines made her head spin. For that reason, Sherri never imagined becoming an author.
